6 Killer Thoughts to Help You Get What You Want

Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you’re right.” This statement suggests that what we think can determine final outcomes, and this holds a lot of weight.

What we think determines how we behave and the decisions we make. If our thoughts are positive and optimistic our actions will align, and we’ll make choices that reflect our belief and that will likely result in a positive outcome. Similarly, if our thoughts are negative and skeptical our actions will align, and we’ll make choices that likely result in a negative outcome.

This means we have to be conscious of our thoughts and take active measures to ensure our thoughts are positive so that we can manifest what we want in our lives.

Outlined are 6 thoughts that will help you do just that.

“I Want This”

First and foremost, you have to be clear about what you want. Knowing what you want puts you in the right frame of mind and in the right posture to receive what you want. Additionally, it is important to develop a ‘why’ for the ‘what.’

The ‘why’ is simply the reason behind what you want. It will serve as additional motivation to stay the course when faced with obstacles and challenges that may work to keep you from what you want. If you have a ‘why’ to hold onto, you will stay committed no matter what.

“This Is Possible”

You have to have faith that what you want is possible. This means your belief in the possibility must be stronger than your doubt that it won’t happen. If you believe it can happen, then you will increase the likelihood of it happening because you will make decisions that will lead you towards that outcome. On the other hand, if skepticism is more present than belief, you will decrease the likelihood of it happening because your actions will be those that work against what you want.

“I am Capable”

Similarly to believing something is possible, there must be the belief that you are capable of making what you want to happen in your life. Most things that we want in life won’t just randomly happen to us. They will require some level of effort and action on our part, but we won’t be able to take the necessary steps if we do not believe in our own ability. Belief in ourselves will help us to do what needs to be done so we can manifest what we want.

“I am Deserving”

Believe it or not, many people struggle with feelings of unworthiness when thinking about those things they would like to have in their lives. If you believe you are worthy to receive what you want, again you will make choices that allow you to obtain what you want.

But if your underlying belief is one of unworthiness, you will often subconsciously make choices that keep you from getting what you want- a sort of subconscious self-sabotaging. Thus, believing that you deserve what you want will help you to align your actions so you can in fact obtain it.

“It’s Okay to Fail Because I Can Learn From It”

The fear of failure is often very paralyzing for people. Some people are so afraid to fail that they won’t act or take the next steps just so they can avoid a negative outcome. A strength of highly successful people is their ability to and willingness to take risks, despite the chance of failure.

Wise people know that failures offer opportunities for growth and learning that can prove to be an asset in the future. Thus, taking risks and even failing sometimes ultimately results in a positive no matter what.

“It’s Not the End of the World If I Don’t Get It”

While we’d like to get everything we want all of the time, the fact is that things won’t always happen that way. There will be times when we have to deal with the disappointment of not getting what we want, and that is okay.

Rather than developing a pessimistic view of the world and our lives, we should embrace not getting what we want as an alternate route to something even better for us and more tailored to us.

Typically when we’ve been denied something, we thought we wanted we later find out that not getting what we wanted was a blessing in disguise. Sometimes it is the denial that puts us in the position to receive something better.

You can have the life you want and the things you want in life. By changing the way you think, you can start making choices and decisions that will help you move towards those things in your life.
